Cha-ching. Another spot to save the day. It’s almost 3 months since I’ve last been to a parking garage - or - since I got my smart car.

I was able to fit into this little spot behind a motorcycle. After getting out of the car and checking the distance with the motorcycle, I finally parked without touching or tripping over the bike.

I saw this smart car towing this mini trailer while coming back from Delaware. I was in my BMW but I could get a clean shot of it as I drove. Probably the best rolling-shot his car will ever have!

Coming down on Lombard Street in San Francisco. It would’ve been better if people didn’t stop while driving to take photos.

Vacation in SF
I decided to take a week off and go to San Francisco for vacation. It was my first time in California and I had a blast. Great climate, great food, clean and organized city unlike the mess in NYC and very fast-pace traffic yet uber-respectful people.
Being a car guy and having heard of the twisty scenic roads of SF, I rented a Chevrolet Camaro for my trip;

Parking was pretty easy in SF. Being there on Labor Day weekend helped a lot too. The streets were empty, meters were off so I didn’t have any difficulties parking the long shark Camaro.
I was very surprised with the number of smarts that I saw though. During my whole trip, I’ve only seen less than 5 smart cars. San Francisco, being a big urban city, I was expecting to see more. Smart marketing department, SF needs more smarts!
Here are my sightings;

This one was sale! It tells me how good of a deal my smart was!

I realized that there are Z3s in San Francisco as well. I even saw an Z3M and a Coupe;

The Camaro was just OK. Terrible indecisive automatic transmission, numb shifting at M modes, and somehow it felt like it has no go. I wished I had my Z3M in SF, but unless I relocate, It’s not likely to happen.
Here’s the famous Lombard street looking up;

It was either 3rd or 4th day of my trip that I realized I haven’t honked with the Camaro yet. People in SF drive like they’re supposed to. I started honking in the middle of the freeway for no reason just to see how it sounds. It sounds just like a regular horn.
So besides the car porn, I also did some photography;

And I ate some good food;

I absolutely liked SF and enjoyed my visit. It’s good to get away once in a while.

Fire Hydrant?
Happy Friday everybody! Today all the Herbie lovers were on the road. I got thumbs up and smiles from 5 different cars / people.
Coming to work, I saw this spot empty and parked here;

Although it’s not within the distance, in NYC, it’s OK to get this close to a fire hydrant. Actually people get closer to it on smaller side streets.
So, I parked here, took the photo, got to work, but somehow I wasn’t comfortable with it.
Of all days, today my car was getting extreme attention and all I needed was a cop to notice my car - and then the distance, to get a ticket.
So, I went back to the car after an hour, luckily I hadn’t gotten a ticket.
I got in and started driving to bump into this spot;

As I parked, 2 gentleman was passing by and one of them was saying “Now you’re showing off!!!” Well, the convenience of having a smart in NYC!
Have a great weekend!

Y’all will block the exit. I won’t! By the way, what’s up with all these chess places on Thompson St.?
